Geriatrics

Sleep disorders in older individuals are a topic of concern, which has been the subject of a consensus conference at NIH. Insomnia in a geriatric population can have various sources, and motor activity monitoring aids in documenting suspected co-morbidity (i.e., periodic leg movement, apnea, etc.) and documenting the outcome of intervention strategies. Studies have documented the fact that sleep disordered breathing creates nighttime arousals.
